Virtual, in-home assessments can provide a more precise representation of a child’s developmental stage by facilitating observations in the comfort of their own home and in an environment that is safe and familiar. **How is autism diagnosed at Positive Development (PD)?** We have a team of diagnosticians with expertise in evidence- based evaluations of autism spectrum disorders. They use a combination of assessments and observations along with a detailed medical, social and developmental history and review of records to determine whether or not your child is on the spectrum. **How do I know if the assessment process at PD is right for my child?** Our team will review your intake packet and specific autism screening results to determine if we are the best fit for your child's evaluation. **What does an autism assessment entail?** At PD, our telemedicine process is streamlined and convenient. We gather background information, complete standardized interviews, review submission of parent supplied videos (optional),  observe your child in free and guided play/activities, and complete additional autism specific assessments. Once the process is complete, our diagnostician will meet with the parents to explain the findings and provide a detailed report **How long is an assessment?** Typically the first virtual visit is 1-3 hours, followed by a one-hour follow up. **Is a clinical ASD diagnosis required to start developmental therapy?** Yes, an autism diagnosis is required for services.
